Hello world!

I’m Ari and this is Knitter Knatter, an online blog where I will log my journey of learning to knit as my skill for the DofE (Duke of Edinburgh) Bronze Award. I plan to use this blog as a fun and convenient way to document my progress.

The biggest challenge with starting a new skill is gathering the right equipment. Luckily my Mum is a knitter so it won’t be too hard to find most of the supplies I will need – she has 2 big boxes of knitting stuff.

The first thing I need to do is learn to start a piece of knitting – Mum called it ‘casting on’. She gave me some spare yarn (double knit) and a pair of needles (4mm) to get started with. She explained that the 4mm is the width of the needles (apparently this is important), but not what double knit means (maybe this isn’t important, IDK). I guess it will make sense soon enough.

This is the video Mum sent me to learn to cast on with. Wish me luck!

🤞🏾
